The controlled bow hunt (11-12 October, 2003) was done at the recommendation of the game warden so that we would not get into situation that other communities are in with regard to deer overpopulation. It was done as a private activity where owners with ten or more acres were offered the opportunity to participate. (There is nothing in the covenants limiting hunting, which is lawful on any private land of ten or more acres). This hunt was handled as a private issue and only covered by the POA to insure members knew about it. Our effort was to control population and, by helping limit the type and time of hunting activities, improve the safety and security of all.

If owners did not authorize hunting on their property... there was none.

This limited two-day bow hunt to control population was approved at the last annual meeting in a 35 "for" to 10 "against" vote and was limited only to those owners and their guests who were "already" authorized to hunt on thier property under Texas law. The activities this weekend seem to have been handled very well by the owners who participated and was basically unnoticed by those of us who did not participate.

This and subsequent dates for the controlled hunt were anounced in correspondence to members and posted on our web site.

We are about to start a Neighborhood Watch Program which will include the control of unauthorized hunting. If you are interested please join us. Details on the upcoming organizational meeting can be found here.
